Three Generations of Georgia Surveyors
A family-owned firm with seven decades of fieldwork, records, and answers behind it.
Family owned since 1955
Georgia Land Surveying Company was established in 1955 and has remained family owned and operated ever since. The firm has spanned three generations of surveyors, and today it is led by Josh Lewis IV, a licensed surveyor, testifying expert witness, and helicopter pilot who flies the firm's own aerial mapping missions.
We are a land surveying and remote sensing firm specializing in both standard survey services and complex boundary, mapping, and measurement problems. From residential surveys to expert-level research and difficult site conditions, we help clients find answers where the solution is not always obvious.
The largest collection of land records in Georgia
Over 70-plus years of continuous practice, GLS has compiled the largest collection of surveys and land records in Georgia (in many metro Atlanta counties, better records than the Clerk of Court holds). We are routinely asked to provide missing files or illegible documents to the county and court system.
Those records are not a museum piece. They are why we can retrace a 100-year-old boundary with conflicting legal descriptions and deliver an answer instead of an argument.

The tools have changed (from steel tape and transit to GNSS, robotic total stations, terrestrial scanners, UAVs, and our own helicopter-mounted LiDAR), but the standard hasn't: find the evidence, follow it, and stand behind the result.
GLS carries a $2 million professional liability policy on every survey we perform, and if you have ordered a survey from us in the past, we will always stand behind our work.
